What type of clothing should I wear for winter in Adelaide, Australia?
I never been to Adelaide before, and I was wondering, what type of clothing, especially jackets should I wear for winter in Adelaide. Should I wear those thick winter jackets, or just a thin one, as the temperatures during winter in Adelaide doesn't drop below zero. Please tell me whether I should wear gloves or any other winter clothes, but I'm particularly keen on knowing the type of jacket that should be worn. Thank you!
Most people in Adelaide just wear a shirt and a jumper (sweater) in winter with long pants. You could wear a thin jacket if you wanted to but if it is too thick you will get very hot. It never snow's in Adelaide and we don't get very much rain so there is no need to wear a rain coat just carry an umbrella in case it does rain.
At night time the temperature very rarely gets below 5 degrees Celsius (41 degrees farenheit) And in the daytime a cold Adelaide day would be about 15 degrees Celsius (59 degrees farenheit) but the temperature is usually warmer than that.

Long Cable Knit

I want to knit a dress, so can I just knit a sweater but make it longer?
I have done endless hours of searching for knitted dress patterns - preferably cabled dresses with long sleeves and v-neck. I cannot find anything figuring I'll have to go to a book store and search. But I can find endless patterns on beautiful sweaters. So I was thinking of doing a cable sweater and extending it down to my knees.
Is this even possible or am I wasting my time? How would I start the pattern from the hem line and knit till I get to desired waist line? then on up? I've never done sweaters before but I want it to be a goal project for this winter.
Can anyone give me any pointers? I REALLY appreciate it!
Yes, you can do it that way, but you say you haven't done a project like this before, I wouldn't. Knitting can be very gratifying. Especially, when you see it all coming together and your creation is well done and usable. But, creating can also be very frustrating when you are not clear on what to do and what you are doing isn't coming out the way you hoped it would.
I learned to knit from a professional instructor who was able to take any pattern and adjust it for whatever you wanted to make. One of the most important things she taught me was to measure in order to get the proper number of stitches -- not just for a good fit, but you have to consider the "motif" -- which is the number of stitches it takes to complete one design.
For example, you want to make a dress with cables. To do this, there needs to be a specific number of stitches to create that "criss-cross" effect of the cable and the recess that causes the "cable" to "pop-out" plus a specific number of stitches that serves as a break in the pattern on either side of the cable. All these stitches make up one of the several motifs across the width of your piece. You wouldn't want to run out of stitches in the middle of a motif.
I think what might be a good suggestion -- one I would follow even now and I'm not a beginner knitter -- is to go to your local yarn shop and ask for someone there to help you work out a pattern specific for you. The people who work at these shops are usually very experienced knitters and probably could be of great assistance.
Also, there is a DIY Knitting program that comes on TV -- I believe it airs on HGTV and you can find it also at HGTV.com. You might be able to contact them and ask for assistance. They may be able to help you work out a pattern or find and send you instructions.
Hope this helped.

Um... Is a guy wearing arm or Leg Warmers acceptable?
I have really low blood circulation, and all I have on most of the time for extra warmth is a scarf and fingerless gloves.
^_^"
So, could a guy wear arm and or leg warmers to keep warm? I know it's more of a clothing choice for girls, but I do not know if it is for both sexes.
Help?
<3
If you like to wear them and want to wear them, then wear them! Don't listen to other people, you are but a piece of paper and you draw what you will be like. There is no "Male" or "Female", there is just you.
