Here
we have our annual Christmas dinner posing for the camera,
where I managed to squeak 10 bodies around our 6-person
table.
For those of you who have
counted and totalled nine, please don’t email me and remind
me that I am math-challenged. I’m #10 behind the
camera.
“Humphrey #56” (the
traditional name started by my parents 56 years ago, for the
sacrificial turkey), is all brown and juicy and ready to
make his appearance.
Another one of
our traditions is to have everyone who sits at our Christmas
Dinner table write a message on the tablecloth (a
special one brought out of the linen cupboard once a year)
using a pen with ink that will not wash out. It is with fun,
fond memories and a touch of pathos (for those who have
passed) that we re-read these messages each year.
When you read below about Values, it
will be very clear what my #1 Value in life is!
This is my Christmas cactus which
blooms in mass profusion from mid November to late March
every year.
Now here is the real miracle….my plants
survive in spite of me, not because of me! I’m
notoriously poor at judging when to water, how much, when to
re-pot, fertilize, too much light, not enough light, etc. My
plants thrive due to the ministrations of my housekeeper,
Hope (she actually has recipes for soil!) and the fact that
we installed a skylight and a glass sunroom a few years
back. It’s no secret that plants are attracted to light and
when surrounded by it, they are healthy, blossoming,
continually growing and happy!
What
are you attracted to that keeps you healthy, ‘blossoming”,
continually growing and happy? This month’s Feature
Article will give you a new slant with regard to new
year’s resolutions (read “re-solutions”)

This seems to be the time of year when we
most want to make changes. And traditionally we do
this in the form of New Year’s resolutions. I’ll let
you in on a little secret….I hate New Year’s resolutions! We
are supposed to make some kind of promise to ourselves and
then apply massive amounts of self discipline and wonder why
it doesn’t work and we end up feeling like nincompoops!
Well, let’s try something different this time. Let’s
do some re-solutions (finding new answers to old
problems when the old answers haven’t worked). I’ve decided
to use the teachings of “The Secret”, that little DVD
movie that appeared last summer and is now flying around the
world at warp speed. People are so hungry for
positive information!
Step 1: Rank your level of satisfaction in each of
the following areas of your life. Rank from 1 – 10, 10 being
perfectly satisfied and 1 being totally unsatisfied.
Health
Friends & Family
Romance
Personal Growth
Fun & Recreation
Physical
Environment
Career
Money
Step 2: Decide what it is that you
really want for yourself in each of these categories
that will increase the number you have given it.
Step 3: Formulate a statement that speaks in
present time, does not use any words that express a
negative such as “don’t”, “not”, “won’t”, “no”, etc., and
expresses your want.
In order to speak in present time, just change your
“I want” to “I have”.
Here are a couple of mine as examples:
Health: “My body is pain-free with all systems
functioning in excellent health” Money: “The money I spend goes out, multiplies and
boomerangs back to me” Personal Growth: “I live the Law of Attraction
and I move through my day with a calm and healthy pace, no
stress, there is time for everything”
Step 4: You are not to even think about “how”
these are to come about. You simply need to use your
thoughts as a frequency to attract, like a magnet.
Visualize them as accomplished and revel in the
emotion. The Universe will look after the “how”.
Get the idea?
Okay, go for it. I’d love to have you email me your
re-solutions!
And if you have missed “The Secret” you can find it
here:

Just to give you an example of how powerful “The Secret” is,
here is a note I received from one of my clients:
“I want to thank you for directing me in the path of The
Secret. I ordered it and received it yesterday, watched it
and what an awakening! I’ve read many books and listened to
tapes, affirmations, you name it. This DVD opened my eyes,
heart, and mind and yes, it’s true, I have created all that
is happening in my life, good and bad. I will manifest great
abundance in my life, in all areas, and may there be a
ripple effect. Thank you for your contribution to the
goodness that exists. I wish you love and all that your
heart desires. Thank you, I am grateful!” Janice Hoy
CORE STRENGTH IS MORE THAN PILATES
What is it that makes up the core strength of
your character?
It’s your values, your core values.
Once you have your core values discovered (3 to 5) you have
a solid foundation upon which to base your decisions
in life. Take for instance, the re-solution exercise you
have just done. Knowing your core values makes it so much
more precise and powerful an exercise.
How to uncover your core values is not that easy when you
try to do it alone, but with a coach to guide you, you will
be able to pin them down and build your solid
foundation.
To give you a start, you can choose someone you admire
(famous or not) and then decide what it is about that
person that causes you to admire them. Chances are one of
those things you admire is a core value for you.
A core value is something you cannot possibly imagine living
your life without. As an example, my #1 core value is
Family Happiness. My #2 value is Health. Why
wouldn’t health be number one you ask? Because if push came
to shove, I would sacrifice my health for a member of
my family. If one of my loved ones needed a kidney or a
piece of my liver I would fight others off in order to be at
the head of the line. No hesitation for even a split
second.
Can you list your top five Core Values?
Although the previous articles are copywrited,
you may use them in your own ezine or newsletter providing
you include the following:
