I'm Late,
But With Good Reason!

Yes, this
newsletter was supposed to hit your mailbox on the first
Tuesday of the month and I have obviously missed it. Sigh!
Well seems things are a wee bit upside down in our house of
late. Allow me to s'plain. Sheesh, where do I start!
D.B. (dearly beloved) and I are taking the show on the road.
We have sold our house, sold our vehicles, sold Enhance
Studio (my 'other' business), purchased a Smart Car (see
last issue), a 40 ft RV, an RV lot, a trailer to put the
'Smartie" and the Gold Wing Motor Cycle into which will be
towed behind the RV and are heading out to see the world
(well, North America anyway).
Essentially we will become 'Snowbirds' and fly away to
warmer weather for the winter. But like all migratory
wingers we shall return to the RV lot at home (www.swanlakerecresort.com)
[be sure to peek at the photos] for spring and summer. I
think of us as 're-tired' not 'retired'. In other words we
have just put on new rubber and tread and are ready for many
more miles in a different direction.
This
is my 'office' in the RV, and one of the reasons I am late
with this letter. Imagine, for a moment, downsizing a two
level, three bedroom, 2 bath, detached garage/workshop,
home-based-business house in which we have lived for 19
years into a 40' RV. Gasp!
Talk about a cathartic cleansing! Sorting into recycle,
garbage, donations, shredding, for sale, storage and lastly
"keeping". We have had to be ruthless. The big move comes on
Aug. 31st and I think it will be a very short month!
THE COACHING BUSINESS CONTINUES. No doubt there will be a
blip or two while the transition takes place (like a late
newsletter or two!), but as the vast majority of my coaching
business in done by phone and Internet it's easy to take on
the road. My email address remains the same, the phone
number will change to a cell number and for coaching calls I
will use Skype. All details will be forthcoming in future
newsletters.
This issue's Feature Article will have you wondering how D.B.
and I ever came to the decision to make this move in our
lives, but as you continue to read it will become more clear
how a One-Toot Bugle and a Full-On Orchestra can live and
work in tandem.
And while I am on the subject of goals, as I have suggested
in past missives, daily writing of your goals is one
powerful process. I began writing mine last February- a list
of 30 in total. Here are just some that came into reality
that I didn't even realize until after the fact:
Goal #1:
"The sun shines on me through the skylight in my
new bathroom". We had plans to remodel our bathroom this
coming winter. Plans changed radically and here is the
bathroom in the RV. And what is that over the top of the
shower..???? A skylight!! I hadn't specified just 'which'
bathroom!
Goal #2: "I'm driving a brand new environmentally friendly
luxury car". It is brand new, it is environmentally friendly
($17 to fill the diesel tank, over 300k per tank in the
city), and it IS a Mercedes Benz!
Goal #3: "I'm revelling in three vacations every year".
Looks like I will now have 3 vacations lasting 4 months
every year!
Goal #4: "Our investment portfolios are bursting with
$******". This one was a real reach, but I trusted the
Universe and the Law of Attraction and now, what with the
sale of our house, it has been achieved!
All that being said, all I did was do the writing. The 'Law'
did the rest. It provided the inspiration, it put
opportunity in my path which I could ignore or use. After
that the action was up to me. And it was only while making
and carrying out our plans that I realized the goals were
being achieved.
Stay with your goals. The process works!!

FILL 'ER UP AT "THE GYM"
Here's what we've been discovering at the 'The Gym":
The majority of members and
non-members who have joined in my free tele-classes are
women aged 50 to 65 who are experiencing a 'goal vacuum' as
it pertains to the remainder of their lives. Their children
are adults with families, they are winding down on their
careers, they are wondering what's next and realizing they
have many more years behind them than ahead. What to do, how
to feel, what's their value and purpose now?
We are finding the answers!
"I knew I needed to get some clarity with my goals and as
fate would have it, I met Lynn. Even with just three
introductory sessions with Lynn I am amazed at how great I
feel! I am optimistic, I have focus, I'm revitalized and
this whole experience has been a huge catalyst for me to
move into a future I have wanted for some time. I'm sure I
will be back for more!" – D. Foster 2007

Are You
a One-Toot Bugle or a Full-on Orchestra?
My
husband is one and I'm the other. Are we
compatible? Well, after more than 38 years together we are
either compatible or insane. Allow me to explain.
A one-toot bugle person has a one
speed transmission, is methodical, hates to be
interrupted, is a slow starter and does excellent work. Just
don't expect it quickly.
On the other hand, a
full-on orchestra person has a brain that is working at warp
speed before they are out of bed, is feeding the pet, eating
breakfast, doing last night's dishes, applying make-up (if
female…..usually), answering emails and talking on the phone
all at the same time.
She's got her day planned and is
asking her one-toot husband questions and trying
to engage him in conversation to which the response is
always a barely audible "I'm not awake yet" even thought he
has been out of bed for two hours and is clutching his third
cup of coffee as if its oxygen.
Now comes evening and the switch is
flipped. She has become an unresponsive zombie in
front of the TV and stumbles off to bed with the cat before
10 pm while he becomes Chatty Charlie and is likely doing
something methodical in the garage at midnight.
So what does all this have to do
with your life and your goals? Well, it really
helps if you know which one, one-toot or orchestra, you are
before you make major life decisions such as career, who you
can live with or where to live or what goals you want to set
and achieve.
It took my husband and me a few
years of puzzlement not understanding why she
couldn't be more like he and vice versa. Over time we began
to see that each temperament was not one dimensional, but in
fact many layered. For instance, that one toot could be
played long, slow and soft with a fading in and out quality
or it could be played loud, short and with reverberation. It
could lull, it could stimulate, it could massage the ears.
Then we have the orchestra
which could make a screeching cacophony of sound as
it tunes up in the pit or, with precise cooperation make
music to produce laughter, tears, sleep, play or wonderment.
If you are the one-toot bugle
person, you may find that in choosing your
highest goal from your list of goals or vision board,
writing a detailed description of what that goal looks like
"now that it is achieved" (you have to pretend here), this
works best for you in the goal achievement process. But you
won't do this until you are "awake"! That could be evening.
You would read your description
daily and allow your feelings and imagination
to get really involved. See yourself in this
space. Hear sounds, smell things, touch textures, even enjoy
the taste. You'll spend at least 10-15 minutes every day
reading or writing your description and never doubting its
outcome. You'll remember that if even one person has
achieved what you want to achieve, then you know it is
do-able. You have the ability to just keep putting one foot
in front of the other and knowing that you are doing a good
job, there is no rush and you will enjoy the process.
The magic here is that your
concentration on your highest goal not only finds
this goal coming to fruition via the Law of Attraction, but
your other goals seem to just fall into place as well.
Picture the parade of Mother Duck and her Darling Ducklings.
If you spend your time and energy on Mother Duck, she will
look after the rest of the brood. You've heard of getting
all your ducks in a row?
So, what if you are the full-on
orchestra type? Well you just love the variety of
having lots of goals. You'd really like to be the orchestra
Conductor. You want to know when and what notes every
instrument is playing. Your main challenge will be to
acknowledge that you really aren't the Conductor, you'll
have to step aside and allow the Universe that role. But
this doesn't mean that you can't play all the instruments!
Writing all your goals every day
and choosing different ones to 'imagine' from day
to day or even moment to moment appeals to you, otherwise
you risk boredom and it becomes a chore rather than fun or a
challenge you can't resist. You like to write your goals,
play with your vision board and spend time in the shower in
the morning visualizing your goals. After all, you are a
multi-tasker, right?
Your goals will pop up and surprise
you. You will find yourself saying "Holy cow, I
just realized that I now have (one of your goals) and I
didn't even realize it was happening!" You love this.
My whole point here is
that there are different ways our personalities function and
all of them work when it comes to achieving our goals. There
are a few common rules such as those that align us with the
Law of Attraction and if you are a regular reader of my
"Clear Directions" Ezine, you are already familiar with many
of them.
Goal setting and achieving should
be a very enjoyable experience for everyone.
Learn and explore from many different experts and adapt
those which appeal to you and will work with your own innate
personality.
Working with a Coach who
is an expert in the goal achieving process, personality
recognition and adaptation and supportive guidance can be
one answer if you are feeling stuck.
So play life with your one expert
note or your full symphony, remembering that both
are many layered and enjoy your life as a goal setter and
achiever to the fullest!
